Disciplined Engineering

Software is a hypothesis. Let’s prove it.

How we work

/ Augmented Engineering

We’d rather amplify your team than shrink it.

These tools multiply whatever skill is already in the room. That is why we put them in your people’s hands instead of using them to work around your people.

We pair and team on the work so the learning happens while it is being built. Your engineers come out of it sharper than they went in.

/ Disciplined Engineering

The judgement is still human.

The same speed that produces a working system in a week produces one nobody understands in a week. Discipline is what decides which of those you end up with.

We define the behavior we expect before anything gets written. That gives generated code a standard to meet instead of a prompt to satisfy. The understanding stays with the team rather than in the tool.

/ The Approach

Do the right things

Efficiency is doing things right. Effectiveness is doing the right things. Shipping quickly has been a solved problem for years. We focus on what matters: learning, understanding, and design.

  1. Explore

Understand the problem space before proposing anything in it. Most bad software is a good answer to the wrong question.

  2. Ship small changes

Small changes reach production in minutes. Learning you were wrong should not cost you days of work or quarters of budget.

  3. Study the results

What happened? Are we surprised? Were we right or wrong? How close were we? Now we know.

  4. Take action

Keep what held. Change what didn’t. Adopt, adapt, or reject the hypothesis entirely. Learn. Repeat.
